Riverside's cross country program has a strong tradition of success, and our student athletes are ready to go the distance in this challenging sport!
In cross country running, teams and individuals run on open-air courses over natural terrain, and participants should expect to run a minimum of two miles per race. The course may pass through woodlands and open country and include hills, flat ground, and gravel road. Runners are judged on individual times and a points-scoring method for teams.
Many cross country runners train year-round to stay in shape for cross country season.
