Brian Daniel of Gainesville, Georgia, has been elected chairman of the Riverside Military Academy Board of Trustees effective immediately.

He follows R.A. “Rusty” Griffin, Jr. of Valdosta, Georgia, who died November 5. Daniel had been serving as vice-chairman before his election by the board earlier this month.

“Losing our board chairman mid-term, especially one with the leadership skills of Rusty Griffin, was an institutional and personal loss to the full board,” said COL(R) Staś Preczewski, RMA president.  “Brian brings to the job steadying guidance, a CEO’s understanding of finances, a wealth of knowledge about facilities and maintenance and, most importantly, a keen appreciation for the RMA mission.”

Daniel has served on the Riverside Military Academy Board of Trustees since 2009. He is the president and CEO of Carroll Daniel Construction, a third-generation construction firm based in Gainesville.

“I am honored to lead the RMA Board of Trustees and I am committed to bring my best to the position,” said Daniel. “The board is eager to complete the current strategic planning process and work with COL Preczewski to continue moving the Academy to increasing levels of excellence.”

BG(R) Daniel J. Kaufman, Ph.D., founding president of Georgia Gwinnett College and former CEO of the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce, has been elected vice-chairman.

Other elected officers include Tony Herdener, treasurer, and Allen Nivens, secretary, both of Gainesville.
