Colonel(R) Stanley C. “Staś” Preczewski, USA, Ph.D. becomes Riverside Military Academy’s 10th president today. COL Preczewski previously held the title of president at Georgia Gwinnett College and replaces interim president Lieutenant Colonel(R) James G. Spivey, USA.

“I am honored to be Riverside Military Academy’s 10th president and excited to lead a talented team of teachers and staff to grow and enhance the Academy’s mission of equipping ethical young men for life,” said Preczewski.

Preczewski has already played an instrumental role at RMA serving on the Board of Trustees. Dr. Britt Daniel, the academy’s executive vice president, spoke to Preczewski’s extraordinary background, stating, “He is unquestionably the right leader at the right time, and we could not be more thrilled that he is joining us.”

Colonel (COL) Preczewski is a qualified and proven leader in both the military and the field of education. Since January, COL Preczewski has been recognized by State Representative Gregg Kennard (D-Lawrenceville) and the Georgia House of Representatives with House Resolution 107. Preczewski was recognized in the House Chamber of the Georgia State Capitol for his retirement as president of Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC). He was also awarded the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award (MFJ) by the Lions Club International Foundation (LCIF). COL Preczewski, was also recently named one of Who’s Who in Education by the Atlanta Business Chronicle.

During his 26 years of meritorious service in the United States Army, COL Preczewski served in various command and staff positions at all levels and retired as a Colonel in 2006. His awards and decorations include two Legion of Merit awards, four Meritorious Service Medals, the Army Commendation Medal, along with Airborne and Air Assault qualifications among other honors. COL Preczewski and his wife Jean have three children, all of whom have served or are serving in the U.S. Army.  
  
COL Preczewski received his B.S. in engineering from Cornell University, an M.S. from the University of Massachusetts, an M.A. from the United States Naval War College, and a Ph.D. in education from the University of Missouri, Columbia. Additionally, COL Preczewski is a graduate of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College and was a Fellow with the American Council on Education at Wake Forest University.

COL Preczewski has served in various executive capacities in the field of education, all with increasing roles of duty and responsibility. At the United States Military Academy, he served as the director of the Engineering and Psychology programs, the Associate Dean for Plans and Resources and the Vice Dean for Resources. Upon his retirement from the United States Army, he served as the founding Vice President, and later as the President, of Georgia Gwinnett College where he led an impressive campus expansion to facilitate the growth of enrollment from 0-13,000 students in a little over 10 years.

RMA will hold an official “Change of Command” ceremony March 29th at 11 a.m. during its Parent’s Day Parade.
