Track and Field Featured in Gainesville Times

Eagles to compete at State Championship May 10th-May12th at Berry College's Valhalla Stadium in Rome, GA.
On Wednesday, May 9th, Gainesville Times reporter Marcus Rodrigue featured at RMA's track and field practice to capture the success of our Eagles this season. Prior to coaching at RMA, Coach Cummings has had a very successful career and the Times article highlights just that. Cummings is now in his 40th year coaching and has accomplished 10 GHSA titles and 20 Georgia Independent School Association titles as just some of his career accolades.

Coach Cummings began working at Riverside Military Academy during the 2016-17 school year and made immediate changes during practice that quickly transformed the team morale and attitude. As a result of hard work and consistency among the coach and the athletes, the Eagles are now in contention to take the Class A Private Championship in Rome, this Saturday.

Our two seniors on the team (notably both captains too), Charles Dimnwaobi and Demi Lasisi, look to end their high school career on a high this weekend in Rome, GA. Dimnwaobi will be competing in five events, while Lasisi will feature in three. After last year's false start by Lasisi in the 400-meter relay, his sights are set on correcting that this year and bringing home 1st place.

RMA will be one of seven Hall County teams at this year's State Championship meet and will compete at the Valhalla Stadium (Berry College) in Rome, GA, which will also be hosting teams from Classes 7A and 4A. Having won all but one meet this season, our Eagles are heading to the State Championship meet full of confidence. Go Eagles!
