Track Team Soars to New Heights

On Friday, April 13th, Track and Field took 1st place in the Outback Steakhouse Invitational Meet and now prepare for the Region Championships. Out of the eight meets in the regular season, Track and Field have taken 1st place in seven.
Track and Field traveled to Stockbridge to compete in what would be their 2nd meet in 48 hours. Despite tough conditions, RMA gave a strong performance against some fast teams from the suburbs of Atlanta. Some of the 18 teams included: Buford; Woodward Academy; Eagles Landing; Sandy Creek; Griffin; LaGrange; Luella; Jones Co.; Henry Co.; Riverdale; Bleckley Co.; Ola; and Union Grove.

Although fatigued, our athletes rose to the occasion to win the meet with 99 points over Union Grove who finished 2nd place with 87 points. The Outback Steakhouse Invitational provided great potential; five athletes were seeded at the 49-second mark in the 400m and six athletes were seeded under 11-seconds in the 100m.  Issac Teasley had a great performance, breaking his record in the 400m that he had set 48 hours prior to this event, going from 49.17 seconds to a time of 48.9 seconds. In addition to this, Teasley finished 2nd in the Triple Jump and 3rd in the 200m. Charles Dimnwaobi put in another strong performance to win the 100m with a time of 10.8 seconds and the 200m, battling against some very fast competitors in both events. Preston Levine set a new personal record in the Pole Vault (11ft 6in) along with several other outstanding performances.

Next up for the Eagles is the Region Championships that take place Thursday, April 19th and Saturday, April 21st, 2018. Prelims will take place on Thursday and the Finals will take place on Saturday, both being held at Providence Christian Academy in Lilburn, GA. Congratulations to Track and Field on their success this season and we wish them good luck for the Region Championships.
