Coach Dick Vermeil Challenges RMA Corps of Cadets

On Tuesday, April 10th 2018, Super Bowl-winning Coach and NFL champion, Dick Vermeil, paid a visit to the Riverside community as part of the Norman P. Blake Family Distinguished Speaker Series and stated that "this is the best-kept secret in boy's education that I have ever seen."
Coach Dick Vermeil gave some valuable lessons to the RMA community and challenged the Corps of Cadets to define and stand up for who they are. Before being introduced on stage, COL Gallagher, President of Riverside Military Academy, reeled off Coach Vermeil's accomplishments that left the audience in awe.

Some of Coach Vermeil's accomplishments include: Super Bowl Champion, Rose Bowl Hall of Famer, two-time NFL Coach of the Year, NFC Coach of the Year, Pacific-8 Coach of the Year, Philadelphia Eagles Hall of Famer, St. Louis Ring of Honor inductee and nominee to the Pro Football Hall of Fame for 2018.

When Coach Dick Vermeil addressed the Corps of Cadets, he used the following points to make an impact:
"If you want something you have never had, you have to start doing the things you have never done."
"The number one person that has to be believed in is you."
"The process takes time; there is always a transition period."
The points Coach Vermeil gave hit home for the Corps of Cadets at this time in their lives when the decisions that they make will directly affect their future.

On behalf of the RMA community, we would like to thank Coach Dick Vermeil and his family and friends for visiting campus and we look forward to welcoming many more speakers as part of the Norman P. Blake Family Distinguished Speaker Series.
