C/PFC Wesley Durden was presented with a scholarship from the NewDay USA Foundation on Tuesday, October 24th at 11:30am on Riverside's campus, just outside of Lanier Hall during Pass in Review. Gary Morrison, Executive Director of the NewDay USA Foundation, along with LTG (Ret) William Caldwell, former commander of the 82nd airborne and current Superintendent at Georgia Military College, presented Cadet Durden with a plaque for his scholarship.

The NewDay USA Foundation is the charitable wing of the NewDay USA, one of America’s largest veteran’s mortgage lenders. Since 2013 the NewDay USA Foundation has been awarding scholarships to the sons and daughters of service members who have made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our nation or who were severely and permanently disabled due to actions in battle. The scholarships are for use at any participating US Military High School, and with assistance from the schools and their alumni cover most if not all of the tuition. Once awarded, the scholarship automatically renews until the cadet’s graduation. There have been 42 scholarships awarded since the program’s inception.
