RMA Raider Team Wins Nationals
The Riverside Military Academy (RMA) Raider Team brought home the Academy’s
sixth national championship from last weekend’s U.S. Army JROTC Raider National

“They brought their warrior spirit,” said Sargeant Major Jorge Sosa.

The three-day event attracted over 60 teams from across the nation and consisted
of the one-day All-Service (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines) Raider Challenge
Championships and the two-day Army JROTC Raider Nationals. The RMA “A” team
brought home the Raider Nationals first place trophy.

The event takes place at Gerald Lawhorn Boy Scout Camp in Molena, Georgia.
Raider competitions are athletic competitions held at JROTC programs around the
world. Events take place outdoors and usually consist of team 5K run, physical team
test, cross country rescue gauntlet (obstacle course), and some form of rope bridge

The 27-member RMA Raider team is a popular program at the Academy that is
known for building muscle and grit along with esprit-de-corps. Competition for a
place on either the A or B team is spirited and competitive.

“The Raider team is an example of excellence here at Riverside,” said COL(R) Stas
Preczewski. “These young men make us proud with their fortitude, strength of
character, and determination to succeed. I congratulate them on their win and their
coaches, 1SG David Croft and SgtMajor Jorge Sosa, for their leadership.”
