Football: RMA Ends 2-Year Hiatus With Come-From-Behind Win.
CHAMBLEE — Riverside Military Academy used a fourth-quarter rally to hold off Druid Hills 32-26 in the Eagles’ first game in nearly two years on Friday at North DeKalb Stadium.

RMA coach Nick Garrett called it a great effort after his group had to endure a game canceled because of weather, and another canceled due to COVID in the first two weeks of the season.

“There’s no better feeling in the world (than just being able to play),” Garrett said. “When your back is against the wall, a true man’s character is exposed. We did a great job in the second half.”

The Eagles (1-0) trailed by two touchdowns in the second half before running back Rodney Robinson got going. The junior rushed for over 100 yards, including a two-yard scoring run in the fourth quarter to give RMA the lead for good.

Defensive back Max Voglebacher, who also had a 50-yard touchdown run, sealed the game with an interception with 2:46 left.

Sophomore Justin Hornick had a big night on both sides of the ball with multiple tackles for loss, big plays on special teams, and also had a 40-yard touchdown run.

Junior quarterback Mike Giampapa, making his first-ever start, scored on a 6-yard run in the third quarter. Defensive end Tami Odutola was in the Druid Hills backfield most of the night with a sack, a tackle for loss, and multiple quarterback hurries.

Riverside returns to action next Friday at Maginnis Field against GMC, which is coached by East Hall alum Lee Coleman.
