Carol Burrell Selected as 2021 SBELA Recipient.
Carol Burrell, CEO and President of Northeast Georgia Health System, has been selected as the 2021 recipient of the Sandy Beaver Entrepreneurial Leadership Award presented annually by Riverside Military Academy.

She will be honored at the award dinner on August 12 in RMA’s Alumni Hall.

The award honors area entrepreneurs whose business acumen and leadership are reminiscent of that of Sandy Beaver, RMA president from 1913 to 1969. Burrell is the first woman to be honored with the award.

Burrell has held the title of CEO and President since 2011 and has been a member of the senior leadership team since 1999. During Burrell’s tenure, the health system has received numerous accolades, has been named the top hospital in Georgia, and has become a regional healthcare epicenter and economic powerhouse with over 9,000 employees.

This year’s dinner will include recognition of past recipients who have died since the last dinner in 2019.  Posthumous recognition will include Frank K. Norton Sr., the first recipient in 2014; James A. Walters, 2015; Jack Frost, 2018; and Jackie Cooley, a member of the award’s advisory committee who served from 2014 until her death earlier this year.

The awards dinner, which begins with a cocktail reception at 6 p.m., is open to the public, and tickets can be purchased by calling 770.538.2924 or emailing advancement@riversidemilitary.com. In addition to individual tickets, tables are also available for sponsorship.

The event’s premier sponsors are Electronic Sales Company, Funari Realty, Paul and Glenna Maney, and Willis Investment Counsel.

Revenue and donations from the dinner benefit the Riverside Military Academy Foundation, which funds tuition assistance for families with demonstrated need.
