The 2019-20 RMA Wrestling team completed a stellar season Saturday by finishing 11th out of 103 Class A teams at the State Meet. The Eagles were led by Jonathan Chesser and Brian Lewis– our 2 State Placers – Chesser (Jr.) became our first GHSA State Individual champion in the modern era at RMA. Chesser stormed through the 220 lb. weight class field Thursday and Friday to get to the State Final match on Saturday in Macon, GA.

Chesser pinned Malik Wheeler (Washington Wilkes HS) convincingly in front of the 8000 + wrestling fans in attendance. Chesser finished the season undefeated to win RMA’s first State Title.
Brian Lewis also had an excellent meet finishing 4th to cap off a great season for him.

Since entering the GHSA - Jonathan has become RMA’s first individual State Champion. Coach Bisso personally handed the first-place medal to Chesser Saturday night at the awards ceremony.
