Commencement Weekend 2019 was held May 17-18, on RMA’s beautiful campus. Friday night’s Silver Taps was conducted at 8:30 P.M. after a short family social on McLendon Quadrangle. During Silver Taps, the audience enjoyed hearing Plaza de Toros composed by Mark Williams, that was presented by the Riverside Military Academy Band, directed by CWO2 Stephen B. Giove (Ret). Col. Cagle (Ret) introduced Cadet Colin Wu as 2019’s Salutatorian and Cadet Shinkwang Moon as the 2019 Valedictorian. RMA’s deceased alumni’s names were read aloud by Mr. Errol J. Bisso, ’61, as the flag was lowered and lights were dimmed.
Saturday morning’s activities began with the last parade of the school year held at MaGinnis Field. During Commencement, the Sandy Beaver Medal of General Excellence and the RMA Exceptional Scholar Medal were given to Senior Cadets who stood out among their peers. LTG Guy LaBoa addressed the Corps of Cadets and its Senior Class during this year’s Commencement Speech. As graduates approached the stage, Cadets received diplomas from LTC(R) James G. Spivey and COL(R) Preczewski. Seniors led the audience is a very heartfelt rendition of RMA’s Alma Mater before being dismissed by COL(R) Preczewski. Hats flew into the air while Cadets celebrated their achievement!
