• Beginning Band

  Beginning band is the first year of band studies.  Cadets (7th-12th grade) who wish to play a wind instrument will learn the fundamentals of reading and performing music in an ensemble setting.

• Choir

  Two choirs are available for each Cadet’s participation.  The Concert Choir and the Chamber Singers perform music of all genres and nationalities.  These choirs allow students to improve their choral and vocal skills, musicality, and sight-reading experiences. These vocal ensembles perform in a variety of events both on and off campus.   

• Concert Band

  Concert Band is an ensemble for cadets with 1-2 years of experience on their instrument. Cadets will expand their understanding of the fundamentals of reading and performing music. Additionally, the fundamentals of marching band techniques will be introduced along with the traditional music necessary for ceremonies.

• Drum Corps I

  Drum Corps I is the first year of drum studies.  Cadets (7th-12th grade) who wish to play drums and percussion will learn the fundamentals of drumming, reading and performing music.  Mallet keyboards, timpani, hand drums, and auxiliary percussion are introduced in this course. 

• Drum Corps II

  Drum Corps II is for cadets with 2-4 years of experience in drumming and have passed all requirements of Drum Corps I.  Cadets will expand their understanding of the fundamentals of drumming, honing in on the 40 Percussive Arts Society International Drum Rudiments and major scales.  Additionally, they’ll become part of the drum line for marching band.   Cadets will learn self-discipline, responsibility, and team work through sectional and ensemble performances with the marching band and Symphonic Band. 

• Drum Corps III

  Drum Corps III is for cadets with 3-6 years of experience in drumming and have passed all requirements of Drum Corps II.  Cadets will expand their understanding of the fundamentals of drumming, to include drum set, timpani and mallets.  Additionally, they’ll be part of the drum line for marching band and percussion section for the Wind Ensemble.   Drum Corps III cadets have the potential of performing with a rope drum ensemble called the “Grenadiers”.  They will also experience musical leadership opportunities through chamber ensembles, a sense of brotherhood preparing for performances, and a positive outlet for expression through rehearsals and concerts. 

• Symphonic Band

  Symphonic Band is an ensemble for cadets with 2-4 years of experience on their instrument. Cadets will expand their understanding of the fundamentals of reading music and performing.  Cadets will learn self-discipline, responsibility, and team work. They will also experience musical leadership opportunities through chamber ensembles, a sense of brotherhood preparing for performances, and a positive outlet for expression through rehearsals and concerts. 

• Wind Ensemble

  Wind Ensemble is the most advanced ensemble in the band program. This course is designed for the most experienced musicians with an average of 3-6 years of playing an instrument. Cadets will learn time management and self-discipline through individual practice and rehearsals, leadership skills through teaching other cadets, striving to achieve a high level of proficiency, and being part of a team to perform as a part of a large ensemble.
