Riverside Military Academy Band
The band's role at Riverside is to provide the soundtrack to our daily lives
and to breathe life and emotion into the structure and routine.

The Riverside Military Academy Band is one of the fastest growing organizations on campus, consisting of 80 cadets ranging from grades 7-12. The Riverside Military Academy Band consists of the Military Marching Band, Football Band, Concert Band/Beginning Band, Intermediate Band, Drum Corps and Percussion Ensemble, Jazz Band, Chamber Ensembles and the Symphonic Winds. The class ability levels range from beginner to advanced. The RMA Band’s repertoire contains military ceremonial music, marches, patriotic selections, seasonal selections, and classics from the wind band repertoire. We believe it is important for cadets to experience a variety of music in several different mediums. The Riverside Military Academy Band participates in Georgia Music Educators Association District Nine band events.
The purpose of the RMA Band is to develop young men of character who have a life-long love for the fine arts. The band breathes life and emotion into the rigorous structure of the Academy. The RMA band is also a musical ensemble that performs for the surrounding community serving as an advocate and representative for Riverside. Our band cadets will develop musical skills and develop technique related to their individual instruments. Band cadets will learn self-discipline, individual responsibility, and teamwork. In addition to the primary purpose of creating young musicians, a band class will provide leadership opportunities, a sense of belonging, and allow a positive outlet for expression. Our band cadets are taught the fundamentals of music as well as appreciation for different types of music while being instilled with a sense of pride and brotherhood for the band's role in the life of the Corps of Cadets. The Riverside Military Academy Band is more than a class - we are a family.
Band cadets begin the school year with the annual Riverside Band Camp. The Band Camp consists of two weekends and several weeknights full of rehearsals and culminating in a concert performance. Each cadets' time is focused on intense marching rehearsals, music rehearsals with staff members dedicated to specific instrument groups, and team-building activities. Band Camp staff includes professional musicians, music educators, and military musicians from all over Georgia. All band cadets are required to participate.
The Riverside Band, along with the entire RMA Corps, participates in the Annual Georgia Veteran's Day Parade in Atlanta, Georgia. Our Corps has brought home the coveted President's Trophy for three consecutive years. The band also participates in Gainesville's Historic Christmas on Green Street each year. Riverside is a proud member of District 9 in the Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA). Our middle school and high school band members have auditioned for the GMEA All-State Band as well as the All-State Orchestra, and many have earned spots in the GMEA 9th District Honor Band, the All-County Honor Band, and the Hall County Honor Band.
