Capital and Endowment Support

As annual gifts provide support for yearly enhancements and projects at the Academy, larger gifts made over a three to five year period of time may fund endowed scholarships, or capital projects.

Endowed scholarships      $10,000 and up

Scholarships for qualified cadets are an ongoing opportunity for support at Riverside. An endowed scholarship may be set up by an individual donor or a group of donors starting with a minimum gift of $10,000. The earnings from the endowed funds can provide scholarship dollars on an annual basis. The terms of the scholarship may be written in such a way that the donor’s general wishes for recipient criteria are taken into account when the scholarship is awarded.  Several endowed scholarships exist at Riverside and donors may choose to contribute to these in lieu of creating their own endowment:

Jerry Blackstock Scholarship of Honor  - Established in 2006, this scholarship honors the life of a servant leader, Jerry Blackstock. Mr. Blackstock was a 1962 graduate of Riverside and served as chairman of the Riverside Board of Trustees from 2002 until his death in 2006. The annual $5,000 scholarship is awarded to a rising Riverside senior who possesses outstanding leadership skills, good academics, and the respect of his peers.

National Security Scholarship Fund – Established in 2010, the scholarship will assist a boy from a family whose mother or father serve in the military, or who have been killed in military action.   The donor’s vision for this fund is to grow it to $1 million so that more young men from families undergoing multiple deployments or military moves may benefit from a Riverside education.

Paul A. Gross Endowed Scholarship – Established in 2010, this scholarship will assist an incoming Riverside cadet from a military family.

Riverside Blue Devil Alumni Endowment – Established to create a perpetual source of funding with input from alumni donors as to how the endowment’s earnings are used. The goal is to grow the fund to $10,000 before earnings are disbursed. The endowment was conceived by alumni John Gianelloni, ’94, and Joe Gordon, ’96, in order to show tangible support for the Academy and its mission.
