Dining Services

Food is a critical part of successful student life at any educational institution, and Riverside Military Academy is committed to serving nutritious and appetizing meals to our cadets. Riverside has partnered with Flik Independent School Dining to provide freshly prepared, healthy food options for cadets. Flik prepares meals from fresh, whole ingredients, thereby limiting the use of frozen, canned, and processed foods containing artificial ingredients and preservatives.
A variety of menu selections, including a salad bar and seasonal fruit, is typically available at each meal. The Flik on-site managers and chef will routinely conduct surveys of the cadets, faculty, and staff to review the quality and popularity of menu selections and to meet the needs of our cadets. The menu will be rewritten every 12 weeks to maximize variety and appeal. A Nutrition Specialist will also be available to review menus and assist with any dietary concerns such as food allergies.
Flik Independent School Dining has initiated the following procedures to make each meal a special event for all Riverside cadets:
- Prepare all meals from scratch
- Use only fresh, unprocessed meats in the preparation of entrees and for deli stations
- Feature mostly fresh vegetables (except frozen peas and corn, never canned)
- Use real potatoes for mashed potatoes, not powdered
- Feature fresh seasonal fruit salads
- Cook homemade soups (never canned or frozen)
- Offer freshly-baked premium cookies
Meals are served in Riverside's stately oak-paneled dining hall, which is decorated with flags representing the diversity of our cadets' home states and countries. During the fall and spring semesters, the commandant's office and parent volunteers often host company barbecues at the Riverside family park. The young men in each company enjoy a relaxed night away from the dining hall to socialize with their friends. During the winter months, themed meals - such as Italian night or Mardi Gras night - are planned regularly to showcase different cultural celebrations and ethnic foods.
The Corps of Cadets and faculty and staff also celebrate seasonal holidays with special meals together in the dining hall.
The Goomba Grill

The Goomba Grill, Riverside's cadet grill, serves a variety of snack foods including pizza, hamburgers, hot wings, nachos, and ice cream. The grill is usually open to cadets on Thursday afternoons and during weekend activity hours.
